Halloween may still be over a month away, but major brands are already cashing in on the fun and sneaker giant Nike is no exception. Always at the forefront of any trend, the label has just released a themed kids sneaker to ring in the spooky season.
The Halloween iteration officially dropped on Sunday but, strangely, they are yet to appear on either the US or Australian Nike site. Instead, they’re currently up for grabs on the StockX site, but we should warn you that the price might make you scream.
The lowest asking price is currently set at $409, proving that the novelty kicks are a hot commodity. Given that the RRP is meant to be US$165 though, it might be worth waiting to see if they land on the Nike site sometime soon.
In terms of design, the new style is a little bit creepy and a little bit cute. Taking on the Air Max 98 silhouette, the shoe is a mix of grey, black, lime green, pale yellow and blood red colourways. The contrasting mudguards are decorated with ominous graveyard graphics, while the iconic black Nike Swoosh is outlined in green and comes surrounded by fluttering bats.
The midnight black upper is meanwhile offset with green piping from the front to the rear, while green and red lacing rounds out the design to really make the style pop. The Halloween kicks also keep the usual Air Max 98 Air-Sole unit, helping to stop complaints of aching feet on the annual trick or treat run.
Having arrived on other models such as the Air Max 95 and Air Max 90 this month, the popular South Beach colorway is now making its way onto the classic Air Max 98 this Fall. Keeping its customary textile and synthetic layers arriving on its upper, this low-profile iteration utilizes a white base and calls upon striking hues of neon pink present on the rear stitching, Air Unit, and tongue nodding to the Miami’s high-spirited nightlife and teal accents on its Swoosh logos, tongue, and lacestays aimed to mirror the city’s paradise beach waters.
